Moscow Five Takes Kiev

The final day of IEM Kiev finished out in style with two epic, high-energy best of three matches that both going the distance.

The 3rd place match proved may have featured the closest game of the tournament along with the most one-sided, with Dignitas salvaging the series against European rival SK Gaming in the 11th hour. Despite losing the first game of the match, Dignitas ultimately rallied in game two, edging out SK in one of the most grueling battles yet seen on the international stage. Perhaps emboldened by this narrow victory, Dignitas came out swinging in the final game of the match, with Voyboy’s Akali spearheading an aggressive 22 minutes route to earn them the 3rd place finish.

In the grand finals, Moscow Five shocked the League of Legends world by taking home the gold in their very first in-person event, defeating internationally renowned powerhouse Team Solo Mid and a back and forth series. While TSM proved the only team at Global Challenge Kiev able to take a game from Moscow Five, ultimately the aggressive counter jungling strategies employed by these Russian phenoms took its toll on their veteran opponents. We look forward to seeing more of Moscow Five at the World Championship in Hannover, Germany.
